NASA,

How does the mechanics of gravity form these “bubbles” on either side of the Milky Way Galaxy?

It looks like it works the same way to form the rings of Saturn.

Is this an illustration of the path of gravity (a.k.a. curved spacetime)?

The ISS Falling Bodies Gravity Test (IFBGT) will observe and monitor falling bodies in “free-fall” motion to monitor the effects of gravity, etc.

Please support or effort!

No problem

My pleasure

GAO Review of CASIS Projects

Dear David Ways;

Thank you for recent interest in working with CASIS and the ISS National Laboratory. The CASIS team is truly excited about the growing community of researchers who recognize the ISS National Laboratory as an innovative platform to further their research efforts. We wanted to inform you of a timely matter where your response is requested.

As a non-profit entity that receives resources from the Federal Government, CASIS is in the process of working with the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) in support of a review of the research aboard the ISS National Laboratory and our cooperative agreement with NASA. The GAO has requested information pertaining to contact information on certain proposals received to assist with their understanding of our mission and processes.

Your project entitled “Test Galileo’s hypothesis and develop remote sensing transmission equipment” was selected and the GAO will be making contact with you. Your participation in this survey/interview is important in order to ensure that the results of the GAO review are useful and accurate. As the confidentiality of the research community is of utmost importance to CASIS, the GAO has assured CASIS that your name/company name will be kept confidential and will not be released outside of the GAO, unless compelled by law or requested by the Congress.

CASIS is appreciative of any effort that you may expend in support of this activity, as the accuracy and context of your feedback will be important to the continued efforts of the ISS National Laboratory. If you have any questions regarding this topic, please contact the undersigned

Sincerely,

Manager, Contracts and Compliance

Government Accountability Office Review of CASIS Management of ISS National Laboratory Research – Survey of Principal Investigators

Dear Mr. Ways,

In response to a request from the House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, the Government Accountability Office (GAO)—the evaluation arm of the United States Congress—is conducting a review of the management of the International Space Station (ISS) National Laboratory by the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS). As part of this review, GAO will be surveying and interviewing principal investigators that have submitted proposals to CASIS to solicit their views about experience working with, and the processes used by, CASIS.  You have been selected as part of this effort.

Our team would like to schedule a time to conduct a brief 10-20 minute interview over the telephone with you by December 5, 2014, to discuss your proposal submitted to CASIS entitled “Test Galileo’s hypothesis and develop RS transmission equipment.” We would appreciate if you would respond to this correspondence with dates and times that you would be available to speak with our team.
Your participation in this survey process is important to ensure that the results of our review are useful and accurate. Your name will be kept confidential and will not be released outside of GAO, unless compelled by law or requested by the Congress. We will provide the results of this survey in summary form in our final report. Individual responses may be noted in the report; however, the report will not include any information that could be used to identify individual respondents.
Respectfully,
Senior Analyst
U.S. GAO
