In the 17th century, Galileo further developed the concept by using thought experiments to affirm his theories. Mass is the density and type of atoms in any given object, and quantity of inertia (resistance to acceleration) possessed by an object.
How could static matter “pull” distant bodies to its center?
WEIGHT a Minute…?!
If “in a Vacuum, all Bodies Accelerate at the Same Rate regardless of what they Weigh” (mass x acceleration), then how do we determine the “mass” of the planets in our solar system (for example)…?
Aren’t they all “falling” toward our Sun at the same rate, regardless of their weight?
Do we observe and measure their size, distance and orbits around the sun to solve for their mass using Newton’s Gravity Equations?
How does that explain the mechanics of WHY they are in motion?
What if “a Body in Motion produces a Gravity Field” ala Einstein, and not by having a static mass, per Newton’s “Universal Gravitation”?
Could there be some other reason for the variations in their orbits (magnetic permeability perhaps)?
